Getting Started

Start here

Getting started with Kitemesh depends on three simple anchors:

  • a personal workspace
  • an active team
  • the group model selected for the conversation

Before starting a first chat, confirm that the correct workspace and collaboration context are selected.

Find the main areas

The main navigation includes the product areas that are used most often:

  • New Chat
  • Conversations
  • Configuration
  • Vault
  • Teams
  • Agent Hub
  • Custom Models
  • Group Models
  • Account
  • Billing
  • API Tokens
  • Settings

Choose the right context

Depending on the screen, Kitemesh works either in a personal scope or in the scope of a team.

Typical examples:

  • secrets can be Personal or Team
  • resources can belong to a conversation, a team, or a model
  • API tokens are managed at the active team level
  • MCP connections and API resources usually depend on the active team and their sharing scopes

If a screen appears empty or incomplete, the active team is usually the first thing to verify.

  1. Open Group Models and confirm that at least one group is available.
  2. Start a New Chat.
  3. Select the group to use.
  4. Send the first message.
  5. Add resources, API resources, tools, or MCP connections only after the first chat flow is clear.

Good practices

  • Start with a small and well-defined workspace.
  • Use explicit names for models, tools, and resources.
  • Store shared secrets in the vault.
  • Create API tokens only for integrations that truly need them.
