Settings and Configuration

What these screens cover

In Kitemesh, several screens contribute to overall product setup:

  • My Account
  • Settings
  • Configuration

My Account

This area groups settings and information related to the personal account.

Settings

The Settings page gathers application-level preferences used in day-to-day work.

Configuration

The Configuration page groups the workspace objects that can be used by chats and models:

  • Resources
  • Tools
  • API resources
  • MCP

It is a useful starting point when shaping a workspace rather than actively chatting.

How to organize configuration

A practical order is usually:

  1. define the useful group models
  2. attach resources at the right level
  3. create read-only API resources when agents need external context
  4. connect the necessary tools or MCP connections
  5. store secrets in the vault
  6. keep API access as narrow as possible

Signs that configuration should be reviewed

Configuration often needs a cleanup when:

  • it is no longer obvious which group to use
  • the same resources exist in too many places
  • several tools almost do the same thing
  • API resources are returning stale or irrelevant data
  • MCP tools are enabled without clear validation rules
  • secrets are hard to track
  • API tokens are broader than they need to be
