Resources

What resources are

Resources are files made available in Kitemesh to enrich a chat, document a model, or share working context.

Types and statuses

Resources can represent several kinds of content:

  • document
  • image
  • audio
  • video

Their lifecycle usually moves through these statuses:

  • Pending
  • Processing
  • Ready
  • Failed
  • Deleting

Where a resource can belong

A resource can be attached to different scopes depending on the intended use:

  • user
  • conversation
  • team
  • custom model
  • group model

The right choice depends on visibility and reuse:

  • conversation for a one-off need
  • team for shared content
  • model or group for reusable context

Add a file

When a file is added, Kitemesh asks for the target scope. Once the upload starts, the file appears with its current processing status.

Use resources in chat

From chat configuration, it is possible to:

  • inspect available files by section
  • include or exclude specific files
  • download an existing file

This is especially useful when a workspace contains many files and the chat should only use a limited subset.

Delete a resource

Deleting a resource removes the file from the selected scope. Before deleting, confirm that the file is no longer needed by a group model, a team, or an important conversation.

Good practices

  • Organize files by use, not by habit.
  • Use explicit file names.
  • Prefer team resources for shared material.
  • Clean up temporary resources when they are no longer useful.
